Mr. Hendrix's Litigation Summary

Mr. Hendrix has provided litigation support and expert-witness testimony on a variety of causes involving: equipment failures, testing, inspection, corrosion and material properties. Case support has included researching material properties, performing literature searches, laboratory testing, failure analysis of equipment and components, and advising on consensus industry practices regarding equipment reliability and inspection standards of care. Support has been divided evenly between defense and plaintiff causes.

Mr. Hendrix has consulted on several cases involving failure of aboveground storage tanks where product leaked into the subsurface. One case involved advising on past and present industry practice for maintaining the integrity of tanks and providing corrosion protection to prevent releases. Another case involved forming opinions concerning the cause of a tank floor plate failure, allowing product to leak into the subsurface.

Other cases that Mr. Hendrix has consulted on have included: 1) allegations of improper high-temperature alloys for tubes in an ethylene cracking furnace, 2) corrosion damage to conveyor rollers in a packaging and shipping facility, 3) the failure due to chemical attack of coated expanded polystyrene billets supporting a floating dock and, 4) the corrosion-related failure of process equipment in a chemical plant due to contaminants in a supplier's feed stock. In these and other cases, support has included conducting laboratory tests to simulate corrosion damage, performing reviews of other expert reports, helping with case preparation, and forming opinions on the technical merits of a case.
