Contacts For Reviewing Potential for Title III, Displaced Worker Support
and Associated Financial Support for Environmental Training
The Economic Dislocation and Worker Adjustment Assistance Act (EDWAA) amended Title III of the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA), and provides funds to States and local substate grantees so they can help dislocated workers find and qualify for new jobs. See: Title
III Dislocated Worker Program for details (in Texas, call: (512) 320-9834).
If accepted into the program, the student
will be required to spend time for a few weeks during the day with the Job
Training Personnel staff to evaluate the person's training needs before funding
will be committed. At the appropriate time, you should indicate to JPT staff
that you are specifically interested in the IET program. Although few individuals have requested such support over the past 6 years, advise the TWC staff that the IET is still available for such training if sufficient numbers of students present themselves to take the IET program.

Inform the operator you are interested in speaking to a counselor to determine if you qualify for the Federally-funded Title III, Displaced Worker Program and its associated financial support for technical training.
Note: There are also other offices of TWC around Houston and in numerous locations in Texas (Here). You should choose one that is close to where you live because you will need to visit TWC facilities on a regular basis for a week or two to evaluate your need for training and whether you qualify for financial support. You should visit TWC's Web site for additional information. Ask counselors to contact Ms. Gwen Sanders-Ayoade or Ms. Rosa Sabani at the TWC-Fountainview Office for references on the course at: (713) 953-9211. Also see Texas Workforce.
