Most of the faculty have worked together in various functions and for various environmental consulting companies in Houston, Texas and around the US. Personnel of Environmental Litigation Associates (ELA) make-up the core IET faculty team, which constitute a group of senior scientists and engineers providing litigation support and expert witness testimony. They have been contributing to the IET training program since its inception in 1992. ELA also provides funding and sponsors, in part, the activities of the Institute to foster and promote the use of good science and engineering in the environmental industry. 

The selection of Guest Lecturers shifts with time to reflect changes in the needs of the environmental industry.
