Part of the main course is Hazwoper Certification, which complies
with the requirements established by OSHA set forth by federal and
state HAZWOPER regulations (29 CFR 1910.120 and 8 CFR 5192). Topics
include: regulatory updates, personal protective equipment update,
health and safety planning, hazard awareness, air monitoring instruments
and case studies.
A 40-hr.
Hazardous Materials Management Certificate is awarded in conjuction
with the course certification. Students will develop professional-level
skills and competencies for the safe containment, handling, monitoring,
storing, and disposal of toxic substances, taking into account local
considerations and utilizing instructors who are both academically
prepared and pragmatically equipped to emphasize practical applications.
Included in
the main course is a closed-book, one-hour examination, required
for all students. Test results are discussed in detail immediately
following the examinations; remedial options are available if the
student scores below a minimum score of 70.
