The IET is sponsored, in part, by Environmental
Litigation Associates (ELA) and by local consulting companies
supporting the efforts of their senior staff members in contributing
lecture time and materials.
The IET,
in cooperation with ELA, sponsors seminars on topical subjects of
the day. One seminar was presented on ground-water supply issues under investigation
for the Harris County, Texas area where the classic battle between
surface water (dam construction) and ground water (declining potentiometric
levels) has been under way over the past 10 years.
The IET also sponsors research to improve access to the technical literature in the geosciences and on local geological and environmental issues. Click (here).

The
IET also sponsors and hosts a number of web sites on the ela-iet.com
domain. One site is the website for the Texas Section of the American
Institute of Professional Geologists.
Michael
D. Campbell, P.G., P.H., Principal Instructor for the IET and Managing
Director, served as the Program Chairman for the Environmental Management
and Mining Sessions for the 1997 Annual AIPG Conference held in
Houston. Special
presentations were made in the memory of Gene
Shoemaker and his extraordinary partnership with his wife, Carolyn
Shoemaker, and for special contributions made by Dr.
John McKay (of NASA) and by Dr.Wayne
Pettyjohn (retired, Oklahoma State University).
Other
web sites sponsored are of various types of environmental technology, such
as: Environmental
Geophysics Associates (EGA), and similar sites now under construction.
In cooperation with the IET,
M. David Campbell, P.G., Project Hydrogeologist of M. D. Campbell
and Associates, created and maintains the Texas Section: AIPG
web site as well as the Texas Section: AEG web site.
